Design and build

Apple surely went all out with the design of the iPhone 8 plus It does look a lot like the Apple iPhone 7 Plus though. With the same signature look of a typical iPhone except for the few additions like the introduction of a dual primary camera on the top left corner of the iPhone 8 plus Then Apple’s logo still sits on the upper middle back and an iPhone branding at the bottom. It has a glossy full metal body build that gives it this premium beautiful finish and looks. The face of the iPhone 8 Plus is a 5.5-inch display panel with a touchpad and a pressure-sensitive home button that doubles as a fingerprint scanner as well. It measures 158.4 x 78.1 x 7.5 mm and weighs about 202 grams. iPhone 8+ is a solid phone with a great feel on the hands and beautiful looks as well. It is an iPhone that is IP67 certified- water and dustproof up to 1 meter and 30 minutes. Apple has done a great job with the iPhone 8 plus Kudos.

Display and camera

Its 5.5 inches display is an LED backlight IPS LCD capacitive touch screen that supports 16 M colors and multi-touch. It comes with a 1080 x 1920 pixels (401 PPI pixel density) resolution and has a 68% screen-to-body ratio. The display is also protected with an ion strengthened glass, oleophobic coating. It has a wide color gamut display, supports a 3D touch display (and home button), and is a true tone display. The display on the Apple iPhone 8 is very impressive. It is one I personally have no grievances with whatsoever. With good colors and just about the right brightness. It is among the top IPS LCD displays on the market today (2017).

Camera

The Apple iPhone 8 plus unlike the iPhone 8 has three cameras. The dual primary camera is/are a 12MP shooter with phase detection autofocus, 2x optical zoom, optical image stabilization, and a quad-LED flash. It has these features geo-tagging, simultaneous 4K video recording and 8MP image recording, touch focus, face/smile detection, and HDR (photo/panorama). The selfie camera is a 7MP shooter with face detection, HDR, and panorama. Selfies are great here and so are the main camera photos. Video recording stands at 2160p@24/30/60fps, 1080p@30/60/120/240fps.

Performance and memory

The iPhone 8 plus and 8 have the same features here.

It comes running iOS 11, has an Apple A11 Bionic chipset, and a Hexa core CPU.  Its internal memory is either 64 GB or 256 GB and it has no support for an SD card. You can always use iCloud services in case you need more space.

Battery

Its battery will last you up to a whole day or two depending on one’s usage. It supports wireless charging and fast battery charging as well. With it, you go from 0 t0 50% in just 30 minutes.

Sound

There is no 3.5mm jack but lightning to 3.5mm headphone jack is present. Active noise cancelation with a dedicated mic is on deck and its loudspeaker is stereo speakers.

Communication and network

WLAN (Wi-Fi, dual-band, hotspot), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS (with A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, GALILEO), NFC (Apple Pay only), and 3.0 reversible connector.
